John Roe, Ph.D.
John Roe frequently speaks at workshops, seminars, and conferences, presenting a wide variety of business, interpersonal, and personal topics, and impacts audiences with his engaging and interactive style. He has also made guest appearances on radio and television. His professional training and experience span 33 years, including military training and continuing education in management, business, and psychology. John received his B.A. in psychology from California State University Northridge in 1968, an M.A. in Secondary Education from Chapman University in 1972, an M.A. in Counseling Psychology in 1973, and his Ph.D. in Psychology in 1977. In 1990, John completed a post-doctoral fellowship in Behavioral Health Psychology at Wilford Hall Medical Center, Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio, Texas. In 1978 he started a private practice in Santa Cruz and soon thereafter incorporated Relational Resources, Inc., a non-profit corporation serving the greater Santa Cruz area through a variety of human services. John is a Certified Consultant in Workplace Mediation, and his formal mediation training includes 40 hours in Essentials of Mediation and Divorce Mediation plus 16 hours in Advanced Mediation from the Northern California Mediation Center as well as 20 hours in Workplace Mediation from the Mediation Training Institute. He also has completed hundreds of hours of continuing education, including specialized training in personal coaching, in the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator, in consulting to partners, couples, and families in business, and in workplace violence prevention and corporate crisis intervention. Dr. Roe has experience in critical incident stress management and forming and directing crisis management teams for handling dangerous employee incidents in the workplace. He has provided on-site grief and crisis debriefings in the workplace and assists management teams in handling events that threaten employees' safety and disrupt workflow.
